EXPLOSION AT
BALL GAME
Tears Flow Like Water When Co
burg KnocKs Out a
Victory
That deep, loud series of sounds as
of persons choking to death with
mirth is not coming from victl'us be
lug tickled Into hysterics. Neither If
it the volc of a dying swao. It come
from the gleesome aggregation of the
Coburg rcuckers giggling over their
victory at the old league grounds yes
terday afternoon, when they woo a
spirited contest from the locals by the
score of 12 to 10. The sane was a
Salvation Army jubilee from the atari
and the 250 exoited fans who saw It
got their money's worth and all con
tributed their share of wind nod quite
a few donated a few dollars to the
cause. It Is reported that Joe Bryan
(no relation to William J.), of
sprlngfleld, has closed his stare for a
tew days and Is living off of the inter
est cf bis money so easily tsken lu.
At the beginning of the first canto
the libeial muckers hypnotized Mo
Cornauk and from then on tte main
spring was turned loose. Finally the
sail-away balls beoame a sore eye and
ao another specimen in the person of
Jones was put in the artillery garden,
and fiom the fourth canto the big
guns could not mow him down, only
three bits being taken from biro.
In the second inning with the bases
(.ill Bettls had a chance to get a
strautte bold on glory. He waited for
a good one over the rubber, then with
a mighty swing of ti e willow the ball
went over the garden wall aod the si
lent first baaeoiao OBme home a win
ner and ia now as famous as Miiwau
kee's beet.
The game was full of Bensntional
plays, interspersed with ragging. A
few of the muckers imagined them
selves at a bullfight and acted accord
ingly. Paine'a base running wis
great, and the little Gastun-Alfonso
act of Paine'a aud Driver's in the
eighth chapter brought forth many
cheers. Coleman alo did some good
work at second. The umpire's noik
was line uutil ;be tatal uiuth, when
somehow he thought of a grandmoth
er's funeral whioh be wanted to at
tend and rushed things along. He
put King out on one of the rankest
decisions seeu for a long time. The
grandstand made more noise than the
peace conference, but fo no avail, aud
after one short struggle we all went
home, vowing to see next Sunday's
game or bust.
