THE GAMES.
Tho general result of tho.Willamotte
Valley Lnugue games for Saturday
aud Sunday puts Eugene to second
plaoe with a clean margin. The mar
gin tilioiild haro been greater. Satur
day's gnmo at Albany was a partisan
ship content on the part of tho um
pire. Ha was unreasonable in all bis
deoialoua and would not allow com
mon questions to be asked him by the
players of the Eugene team.
The groat Jay McCormick of the
Sulein town was this illustrious indi
vidual mid tho manner of doing waa
almost the cause of his undoing.
Whou tho Sunday game was called
thero is a bunch of a hundred Eu
geuo men, strong-muscled and de
termined to sou that things were dono
ou the nquaro, watching the umpire
tor foul dealing, but behold I be saw
Ihem tLoro aud gave the boys a fair
deal.
At yejtorduy's game there was not
tho slightest disposition to act smart
on his part. Tbore would hare been
"soniotblng doing evory mluuto" and
most of it would have been tho
umpire.
HOW IT WAS SATURDAY.
Tho twolvo inning gamo Saturday
was a spectacle. On tho occasion of
n raw decision, Tim Shaunhan asked
the umpire If bo meant his decision
ion get oui or mo fame and if you
say any more got out of the gro uuda''
was ids auswer.
"Wo'll wiu this game under oro-
tost" said Somora to the Albany Hrst
baseman. The umpire thought it was
something about him so he bono lied
Somen. He even ordered thorn to
get out of the grand stand aud sit
with thcothort"playors. At this Jolly
Soniers tipped his hat anil MoCormlck
said "That's an Insult. You got out
of the grouudB. " And Humors was de
nied the privilege of seeing the game.
With two of the best men out Eu
goue held out for twelve iumugs.
The game baa beou protested and Eu
geuo bai- good chances to win.
CLEAN (1AME YESTERDAY.
Yesterday the contest lu Albany was
a pretty one. The presence of n
crowd from Eugene mado the umpire!
see whnro Ills broad was buttered and
he waa as good as a baby with his
bottle. The runs camo in where they
should and Kugene scored a pretty
victory lu nine innings. Keil for Al
Imny mado tho only run and played
an excellent gamo all around.
