In the oase of D W aud R L Stearup,
It Is alleged that tiny contracted their
hops for future delivery at 1 cents a
pound, tbeoropof their 30 acres being
estimated at 30,000 pounds. Tbe pluln
HQs allege that ft 200 was advanced,
but that when the bops were barrelled
the cropping 80,000 pounds, the de
fendants refused to sell. They place
their lose at f6551, estimating It on a
bails of hops being worth 27 cents a
pound.
In tbe case of A F Steams, it Is
claimed that tils crop amounts lo 15,
000 pounds and the loss tj tbe plain,
tills by leason of the Inorease In price
since the cou trait was made Is 4671.
This Is the first suit over ibis year's
bop conlraots to be brought in the fed
eral court. The right to Institute the
proceedings in that oourt belongs to
tbe plaintiff, who are non-residents of
the stats. Another faot lu this con
nection is that the validity of these
bop oontraots has not been passed on
by this higher tribunal.
