A Tramp Fell Under the Train
Last Night.
The night meu at the B P depot
received word by wire trom
Oakland tbat about 12:40 o'oliok tbls
morning, Bbortly after the northbound
overland train which arrives here at 3
a m bad pased Oakland, the nlgbt
agent there found a tramp on tbe plat
form of tbe depot In great agoay.
Upon Inquiry and Investigation It was
found tbat one of bla feet was com
pletely severed from the leg.
It Is supposed that tbe tramp bad
been riding on tbe brakebeam or was
attempting to get on when he fell un
derneath the wheels. He dragged
himself to the platform, and the night
agent took him luto tbe waiting room
of tbe depot, bound up bis leg as well
aa possible and sent for a physician.

guessed at all the way from 135 to 180

We are informed by James Selover
that be bas found a deposit of brick
cUy of good quality on his ranch on
North Fork.
From a resident of Heoeta precinct
we learn that the people of that section
will socn petition the oounty court to
extend the load up the coast from its
present termination near Heceta to
the Llnooln county line, thence to
oouueot with tbe road from Waldport,
which will bn eHtablished as far south
as tbe oounty line. When this road
Is opened team (can travel down the
road from Yaqulna nearly to the Cal
ifornia bounoary.
Last Night's Play. Another full
bouse greeted Mr Lowe's company at
the Parker last night when "Kathleen
Havourneen" was the bill. The com
pany gave a splendid rendition of this
old pity, and at times the whole audi
ence w s in tears. Bright comedy
