CITY ELECTION.
Tbe oity eleotlon returns from
the three wards oan be studied with
interest. While the total vote for
eaoh of the several oounollmen
varied but little on their respective
tiokets. there was more or less
varianoe in the wards.
. Tbe Third Ward, casting the
heaviest vote, .voted almost straight
tiokets, there being but three votes
difference between the highest and
lowest oounollman on the "Clti
sens' " tloket and but five difference
on the "Restoration of Wards," or
anti-saloon tloket. The First Ward
"soratohed" the most, there being
difference of eight on the Oitisens'
ticket and twelve on the op-
posUlua. The Seoond Ward
varied six on the Citiiens' and
eleven on the opposition in a vote
that was about one-lourth less than
the other wards. J ' ;
Tbe people have given a deolslve
answer as to the ever reourring
saloon agitation in favor of the
present order of regulation, the ma
jorlty being about 135. We say in
favor of the "present order," for
tbe restoration-of-ward issue was
simply a disguise under which to
fight over the saloon lioenss qua
lion. Apart from the special Issue
involved there will be no complaint
at to the' result'. Uorris, Paine' and
Henderson have eaoh shown be
for their fitness for the plaot to
, whioh they were stated.! They are
interested In the prosperity of the
