Creek.

Danish minister of this city, and Louie
Luckey bad a very wet experienoe In
Wolf creek Tuesday, acoordlng to
resident of tbat vloluity who was in
Eugene today.
The reverend gentleman and bis com
panlon drove out in a buggy to look
after some homestead interests and
when they oame to tbe Van Curen
ford aoross Wolf creek, about 80 miles
from Eugene, tbey found the stream to
be a roaring torrent on aooount of tbe
reoeut heavy rains. Tbey deoldod to
drive across, however, but hadn't gone
only a fe feut until the horse wa"
foroed to swim and the buggy was
auoat, and the whole outfit weut down
stream at a rapid rate. Tbe buggy
turned over and the occupant had
illffloulty lu reaohlng the shore. The
horse swam to dry land with the front
wheels of tbe rig but tbe remaining
parte were not fished out until next
day. It wss a olose oall from drown
ing. It Is said Rev Hansen could not
swim a stroke.
