Per announcement the tax rolls
were elosed by Hherift Withers last
evening. Th amount of taxes due Is
a little more that 119,800, some 1.000
more than at this time last year. The
lellnquent roll will now te made up
by the sherld and bis deputies. This
work will take until about September
16th, wbea they will b opened again
for a month longer.when all remaining
unpaid will be advertised and the prop
erty sold.
Exposition Excursion.
The Portland Evening Telegram'
second personally conducted party will
leave Portland on September 3 for the
Pan-American Exposition at BuOalo
and other points In th east. The 30
member of the first party, which left
Portlaud on June 7, have all returned
and report a jolly and moat profitable
trip.
The Evening Telegram quotes a rate
for the round trip, delightful Bide trips
and practically all necessary expenses
while en route to Buflalo and uurlng
the stay at the exposition. A an ex

travel It Is a most desirable plan on
which to make the long journey. The

enterprise, and persons contemplating
a trip east will do well to Investigate

She came here about one month ago
from Crook oounty, about 20 miles
