from a Nagasaki, Japan, letter of
July 3 on the subject ol Ablatio
proselytiBin:
' "Many missionaries are
leaving for Northern Japan, some
for America. Some have come
here to go home. Tbey are worn
and worried, and all neeJ rest.
"What adds to their discomfort
they are not, as a rule, looked on
with favor here by anybody except
their own members. It makes a
man out of patience to hear what 1b
said. Even well-bred men, and
men who ought to know better, are
all the time blaming them for the
trouble with the Chinese. 'They
are not wanted here; let them go
home and go to work.' 'You hoar
this always, not in the Baine words,
but tbe same idea is heard a dozen
times a day from ons end of Japan
to the other.
"They all humbly admit that
they have not done greatly. Only

airies and all, in a population of
fifty-five million in Japan. While

wealthy camp owners, wished to be
able to travel in their private cars
direct to their camp landings and
be relieved of the necessity of mak
ing tbe trip overland, as do others
who make summer pilgrimages
into tbe fur north woods. ' The
state laws were annulled by Piatt's
wishes, and by a trick tbe law giv
ing Huntington a right of way
through the state's game and fish
preserves was passed.
