The Fourth Kegimeot baud received
this morning 20 new iustuuieuts
through Morris & Craw from the well
known bouse of Kohler A, Chase, of
Ban Francisco. Tbe horns are ot tbe
famous Besson make, silver plated
with satin finish. The band Is work
ing hard to get in shape or the en
oampment at Balem which begins
July 7 and expect to make themselves
known at that time.
Tbe order for tbe Instruments was
placod with Morris fc Craw June 16.
Theclarioneta and drums were shipped
from Ban Francisco and tbe horns
from New York, and 14 days from the
time tbe order was placed tbey were in
Eugene. These gentlemen spared no
expense in having tbe order rushed
through, and tbe promptness is greatly
appreciated by the band.
Tbe Besson is recognized as one of
the best band instruments made, and
and tbe boys have a pardonable pride 1
in their possession. Tbe uniforms are
here and have been apportioned to the
boys. The regular quarterly inspection
will occur tonight.

ing Fourth of July celubratlon is get
ting all its wori rounded out in good
shape, and can announce with a
certainty that the program given this
year will exceed in quantity and
general excellence any arranged in
tins city lor several yeare.
Tbe lloats for the Goddess of liberty
and Queen of the Celebration promise
to be unique and tasty, and will be
innovations in that line.
Tbe various contests will have as an
Incentive good purses, and the com
mittee asks that, if possible, all entries
be made before the Fourth, eitiier to

member of the committee.
The rjqueduuk parade will be one of
the neatest things ever given. Clever
takeofls without number will be in
evidence, and no one should miss this.
For the bicycle parade five prizes, $5,
$4. $3, $2, $1, will be awarded for the
best decorated wheels, allowing a large
vurieiy for selection and origiuality lu
choice of decoration. At least 760
wheels should be seen.
Tbe mort.ing parade will be formed
on Oak street, near Eighth. The Hue

west to Willamette, south to Nlutb,

Eua enk, June 13.
Dear Mollie; Well, I got here all
right and bave got my "Ku-Kluok't
bicycle. The conductor told me I had
better buy the bicycle the first thing,
as there's thieves in Eugene. Tbe
bicycle is a pencil, and you bet the
James gang will feel mighty sorry
when they see me riding my fine
bicycle right by their bouse. I didn't

clothes on the sleeping car. There was
a lady on tbe other side and I was so
oonfouuded scared of her seeing me
that I spilled my money all over the

foolin; be kind of cheerful, for be was
