A Costly Colt.
't he Portland Telegram of the 19th
has an account of a very unusual
occurrence. It says
"A orazy colt, owned by T. D.
I Honey man, created oonsternation In
the livery stable of Frazer & MoLean,
I yesterday afternoon, demolishing
about a dozen buggies, and Inflicting a
loss on the firm of $1000 or more. The
havoc was wrought so suddenly and
rapidly as to astound those who wit
nessed it, and to prevent the work of
destruction was a sheer Impossibility.
Mr. McLean states that be would have
shot the animal if be had had a pistol.
It all happened In the soace of a
minute or two, and the colt proved to
be such a cyclone smasher of things
that the prize record of the justly cele
brated bull in a ohina shop has been
knocked into the shade. The colt was
left at the stable to be exerolsed, and
was pretty well broken. About 4
o'clock she was brought up stairs on to
the main floor. The buggies are keDt
on this floor, along the rear wall, and
there were probably 26 or more of
them side by side, with a small space
I between a few of the vebloles. The
oolt broke away and ran to the rear of
the piaoe, and without warning, and
I before she oould be overtaken, jumped
olear on toP of buf?gy. "" from one
to another, and lumped and kloked,
breaking seats, sides, bottom-, shafts.
