THE MERCENARY BRIGADE.

The "mercenary brigade" nomi
nated the Republican tickets for
Lane, Douglas and Josephine
counties. The land office at Roee-
burg, aided by the postmasters and
other office holders, delivered the
goods at the conventions, and it
remains to be seen whether this
combine will be strong enough to
deliver the votes on election to the
Mitchell-MoBride oombine.
