THE ECLIPSES THIS YEAR.
First Will Be a Total Eclipse of
the Sun, and Will Occur
May 28.
During the year 1900 there will
be three eclipses, two of the sun
and one of the moon.
The first Ib a total eclipse of the
sun on May 28, and will be visible
throughout the United States. This
eolipse will begin about 8 a. m. and
continue for five hours and 23
minutes. During the passage of
the shadow over the United States
it will move at the rate of 41 miles
per minute. The second is a partial
eolipse of the moon, beginning at
7:14 p. m. on June 12, and lasting
but seven minutes. The third is
an annular eolipse of the sun on
November 21. and invisible in
America.
The total eolipse of the sun on
May 28 will be a most interesting
sight. It is some time since we
had an opportunity of witnessing
a total eolipse and no one should
fail to see this one. Make a note
of the date, May 28.
MERITED COMPLIMENTS.
Robert M. Veatch lived five
years in Roseburg and the acquaint'
a nee of those years gives the editor
of the Roseburg Daily Review the
opportunity for bestowal of merited
