that of l)r DeWitt A. Paine. Dr
Paiue is a native son of New York,
born Oct. 18, 1853, and located in Ore
gon (Eugene) 1SS8, which fact alone is
sufficient to Incite the people of this
state to a keen interest in bis career;
which, from a physicians standpoint
ho been remarkably successful.
Possessing an amiable and courteous
temperament, his Individuality is at
once recognized and his eflorts on be
half of the state of Oregon, as super
intendent of the state asylum, has
been Immediately successful. HIb
ability to handle the larrre Institution
is beyond question and his labors on
behalf of the stale must certainly be
acknowledged by the higher olltcials,
for his whole time li centered upon
the state's Interest.
