THE IIANQIIKT.
At 10:30 in the evening all repaired
to the bauquet hall in the Hisdou
building and nt once locked horns
over the most elaborate spread ever
seen In the city. Tho hall was decor
ated with long lines of ivy hung from
which a bewildering profusion of pur

One immense elk head and several pair
of wide spreading elk antlers served as
a part o." tho ornamentation, and tilt
eye following the lines of decorations
was led to a large and very fine crayon

two arc lamps lighted the rrom. The
beauty and profusion of tho tables
were beyond description and In the
trimmings of the hall and the fur
nishing of tho banquet, Mr and Mrs
Brown ot the Hoflman House have
made a record for themselves which
will go with them for many years.
At eleven o'clock, in accordance with
nn established custom of the order,
the toast "Our Absent Brothers" was
given and nil stood In token of their
remembrance, arid tho toast was
beaiitiluily responded to by L T Har
ris. The serious business of the ban-
uet occupied the attention of all
until nearly I o'clock ut which lime
the n reinonles were taken charge of by
tho Toastmastcr, Dr C E Loom Is,
Mr Loorols Is one of Hie most nucces

His remarks in introducing the speak
ers were witty and of a high order and
were lou lly applauded.

speech so eloquent and full of thought
as to command the closest attention.
