received from Silver Lake Tuesday
night that our honored county com
missioner, A. V Lane, had died at his
home thereon Sunday evening, Dec.
13th. Tho end came peacefully and
without warning be had been out
feeding his stock and feeling a little
tired, laid down. Mrs Lane noticed
be was breathing hard, aud went to
his assistance. He was raised up but
wished to He down again, and in a
few moments breathed his last.
"A V Lane was 44 years old, and
leaves a wife and three children. Hla
brother, William A Lane, aud three
sisters live in Linu county, Oregen.
Mr Laue and Hon S P Moss were boys
together, and both came to this coun
ty from Big Valley, Cal., In 1873.
Mr Lane was elected county commis
sioner in 1890, and again in '04, as a
democrat, and lias served the people of
Lake county In a very efllcient and
creditable manner. His hosts of
friends will greatly deplore the loss of
so valued n citizen. Tho eorruwlng
