Lester Humphrey of Foster, He-is

the teacher's examination in this
county with a total average of 80,
enough to warrant a second grade cer
tificate, but 011 account of his age and
it being his first examination, only a
third grade certificate could I e issued
to him. Young Humphrey is a
wonder, and is not only advanced in
"book learning," but as brilliant in
every respect. We predict a. bright
future for this youngster and we
would like to see some of our muubly
vaunted city kids stiow down with
this "country bred" boy who baa been

the silting rooms and parlor and

the evening was spent in playing

coming out victorious. Cards bearing

and those gutting corresponding
numbers found partners for supper,
which was served from 10:lf lo 11:46.
Two long tables were spread .with
dainties ot tho season one eachfor
the Juniors and Seniors. Tho tables
were lighted with candles aud weie
decorated iu the respective class colors,
the Juniors being red and white and
the Seniors purple aud yellow. Tne
diuinc room was decorated with
tuialletoo and holly. The Bouvenlrs
consisted of a large stick of candy
with red aud yellow ribbons attached.
Through the center of each stick rau
the words "U of O." The cards hand
ed the young ladies also bore quota-
liens aud after supier some time was
spent In guessing the authors. In
this Miss Theresa Friendly took II rat
