Too Much Snow. Dick Vaudevert,
olCrrok county, who recently pur
chased a load of supplies here, uud
left with his four horse team for home,
after battllug a week with the snow
on the Cascade mouutuiua, returned
bore yesterduy. Ho says that several
wagons aud a' party of teu men at
tempted to crots the range but were
compelled to abuudou their wagons in
the snow and carry out their supplies
on their backs. The snow when he
left was about eight feet deep. Here
tofore the road has not generally
closed for a month later. Mr. Viintle
veit will drive his wagon to Portland,
then ship the outfit to The Dalles, and
then drive on to his home. This will
be quite-an expensive trip for him.

Veazlo and Mrs Chapman announce a
chrysanthemum show to be held Wed

done by Miss Maggie Whitney, who,
though having had to labor under
great disadvantages, is becoming quite
a proficient artist.
