Miss Lulu S Matlock, daughter of
.Mayor J D Mullock, passed away at
9 ;:!" o'clock this morning, at the family
residence, Eleventh and Cluirncltoii
streets, after an Illness of about a year
and a half, the causo of death being
consumption.
Deceased was born nt Pleasant Hill,
August 24, 1S73, and was aged '2:
years, 5 months and 27 days nt the
time of death. She resided ut Pleasant
Hill until the year 1SS2, when she
crtne to tills city witii tho family, who
hiivo resided hero ever since. She lias
lived hero constantly excepting some
time spent ill visiting in Eastern
Oregon and at otl er places, and lias
always enjoyed the friendship of all
who knew her. Called away while
yet in early life her death has struck a
blow that casts its shadow of sorrow
over a wido eliele of relatives and
Iritnds tiud is felt by the entire city in
which she bus resided fur so long a
time.
Deceased leaves a father, four broth
crs and four sisters to mourn her do-
iiiise, her mother having preceeded

will feel the greatest sorrow upon
learning of Iter untimely death.
Deceased was a member of the
Christian church of this city. Tho
