The body, which was partially de composed on account of th» length of time which it had been iu the water, was found several feet below the surface of the water in an eddy near a riffle in the vicinity of th old Bushnell ferry. which is about two miles below where th«- drown ing occurred and four miles below the city, it was brought to th» sur face and W. T. Gordon, the under taker, was notified. He brought the body to town and it is now at his un dertaking chapel. Mr. Gordon, who is countv coroner, deems it unneces sary to hold an inquest, as it la an es tablished fact that he met death by accidental drowning. Hugh Brady, the profes sional diver from Portland, was sent for soon after the accident, but he was unable to lo«ate the remains. Albert Keopp, who accompanied young Baker at the time of the drowning, and Will Bushnell have »pent days on the river and at last were rewarded. They had looked in to this eddy several times before, but th«- body was not there. It evidently bad caught ou something beneath a pile of drift wood in in a deep hole and finally became loose and float *d , to this spot only a short time before it was found.
