Jan 17.—Actual con struction upon the Oregon Power Company’s big electrical plat for Springfield began yesterday with a pouring of cement Into the forms of the heavy foundations. A large con crete mixer Is requiring the atten dance of half iv dosen men with rock and concrete barrows, and the work has become more active than before. The work is being pushed In spite of many difficulties. The entire wooden building has been taken away and the big electrical machines are running night and day Inside paper covered boxes that protect them from the element. It Is an odd looking sight and the piles of ma terial on all sides are growing larger each day. A warehouse has been constructed1 beyond the mill com- panles office and many carloads of cement and other expensive material Is being stored here. The contrac tors and engineers have an office arranged here which is fitted with telephone, light and other conven- lances. SAWMILL STARTS UP ONCE MORE Springfield. Jan 17.—The Booth- Kelly sawmill began operations again this morning aftert a sllgh hut down, said to be ns a result of tlu» cold weather. The planing mill begun operations yesterday.
