THE cure for REPORTED ATTEMPT
SCROFULA
TO KILL TEDDY
MERE SENSATION
O
Swollen glands about the neck, weak eyes, pale, waxy complexions,
running sores and ulcers, skin diseases and general p<x,r health, are th«
usual ways in which Scrofula is manifested.
The disease being deeply
intrenched in the bltxxi often attacks the bones, resulting in White Swelling,
or hip disease, and the scrofulous and tubercular matter so thoroughly
destroys the healthful properties of the blcxxl that Scrofula sometimes
terminates in consumption, an incurable disease. The entire circulation
being contaminated, the only way to cure the trouble is to thoroughly
purify the blood and restore the circulation to a strong, healthy state.
S. S. S. is the very best treatment for Scrofula; it renovates the entire
blood supply and drives out the scrofulous and tubercular deposits. 3. S. S.
is the greatest of all blood purifiers, ami it not only goes right down to the
verv bottom of the trouble and removes the cause, but it supplies the weak,
diseased blood with the healthful properties it is in need of. and in thia way
builds up weak, frail, scrofulous persons and makes them strong and healthy
S. S. 3. is a gentle, safe, vegetable preparation and is suited for peraons of
any age Book on the blood containing information about Scrofula and any

The package never reached its desti

SHRINtRS LOUD
OF EUGENE
The Shrlners returned from Eu
gene yesterday with enthusiastic
praise for Eugene, says the Journal.
From the moment of the arrival of
the Portland special in the college
town, at noon Saturday, until the
time of Its departure Sunday morn
ing, the visitors were treated with ev
ery courtesy and the warmest hospi
tality, so that a general vote of
thanks and appreciation were passed.
"A beautiful little town” every
one pronounced it.
Automobiles
were kept busy all day showing the
visitors about.
The objective point was the state
university, and the visitors went
through the buildings in crowds, and
expressed operly their surprise at the
extent of work shown there. They
were pleased with the Improvements
which have been set on foot there
since the lifting of the referendum
on the University appropriation, In-
structors and students were in the
various departments to show the vis- I
itorB about, since the fall work i will
not begin for two or three weeks.
Pity the Victims
Dr. Homer I. Keeney was one of
the Portland visitors, and he express
ed his unbounded delight on learning
that Professor John Straub, of the
Greek department, was to be one of
the initiates. “I have been waiting
for ten years to get even,” said the
doctor delightedly, with sad remin
iscences of hts Greek verbs when he
was a student at the University of
Oregon. And It is whispered that the
young doctor lost no chances Judge
l4iwrence T. Harris, circuit judge for
the Second district, came in for his
share of honors, and Dr. Littlefield,
of Newberg, and Dr. Davis, of Al
bany. ‘ were also marked men.
A
number of the candidate« went up on
the special an<| life was made a bur
den to them.
There were 208 Shriners who left
Portland Saturday morning, and 50
were picked up enroute to Eugene.
The day was full of excitement, with
sightseeing throughout the day. the
parade at 1 o'clock, following a busi
ness meeting, and the initiation in
the evening from 8 to 11. when a ban
quet was served in a neighboring hall
during most of the night. This spec
ial dispensation meeting was so suc
cessful and so much enjoyed that the
Shrlners are planning another for
Ashland in about two months.
