yesterday of the army appropriation
Bill. Hale, of Maine, chairman of the
-committee on naval affairs, today
sounded a warning against increases
of the military establishments of the
country, saying that they were invit­
ing a deficit in the treasury and
would serve no useful purpose. Hale
moved reconsideration of the vote
by which the army bill was passed
and his motion was then laid ou the
