Houston seems undisturbed by the threatening anonymous letter sent him Sunday, Mr. Houston has taken a decided stand in matters of city government having been active in the passage of a blanket ordinance prohibiting all kinds of gambling, slot machines, billiard tables, pool and bowling, and making it unlawful to place on sale or to give away li quors of any kind. It is thought the letter was intended to intimidate him and pfevent further participation by him in “closed town” legislation un der fear of personal injury. The letter received by Mr. Houston was decorated witn crude designs of skull and crossbonea and coffin, and contained a small quantity of shat- ings—a possible threat of arson. In Mr. Houston's store,which was robbed last week, was found a handkerchief bearing laundry mark “7486.” Dallas, Texas, April 18.—The Postal Telegraph Co. has received a message that says nearly Stf 0 are dead at San Francisco.
