McGinnis, who has resided ut 394 Eust Eleventh street, suddenly died this morning at his home. He has been iu his usual health aud spirits and bis sudden death is a shock to his neighbors and family. Ho was chopping wood in the rear of his residence about 10 o’clock aud came into the house complaining of terrible pains. He went into convul sions and his wife telephoned for a physician. Dr. J. W. Harris arrived on the scene and gave him u quieting injection, but the effect did not last long. He agaiu was convulsed and died in an hour after hie first coin plaint, apparently in the greatest pain. After his death other physicians were summoned and Doctors DeBair and King came. <’ 1RCU M8TA NCES PECULIA R. The manner of death was so peculiar and lcoked so much like a ease of poisoning that tbe family of the dead inan became alarmed and requested the physicians to remove the stomach of the deceased and examiue it for poison. This was done and tbe stomach will lie examined totiiorrow morning aud tbe physicians will re port to the coroner at the inquest to be held at 10 o’clock. HAVE HAD TROUBLES. An intimate of the family states tbat Mr. and Mrs. McGinnis have had consideratde domestic trouble. Hhe has been married twice before and each of her former husbands have died under peculiar circumstances aud suddenly. Mi. McGinnis bad requested this intimate during bis life time aweral times that if be died sudd lly to have his stomach removed a id examined. It shows that he lived in fear of bee ming a victim of poison. SOLDIER AND CHURCH MEMBER G. L. McGinnis was a Civil War veteran, serving in the 13th Illinois Cavalry three years with Company K. He was a member of the Eugeue M K. church, and an active worker, aged 61 years. Deceased was born in Illinois iu 1H42 and removed to Dakota and then to Oregon, where he has resided for years. INQUEST TOMORROW. Coroner Kiug will hold an inquest tomorrow morning at 10 o’ clock. Arrangements for the funeral will not be made until later. DR. HARRIS’ OPINION. Dr. J. W. Harris attended Mr. Mc Ginnis this morning and gives as his candid opinion that he died of new ralgia of the heart and nothing more.
