HEALTH LAW
IN FORCE
The new health law, enacted by the
last legislature, co: tains provisions
which should become general Infor­
mation for the public. '1 be new rules
make a systematic accuaut of ail
conditions of health, births, deaths
and
ooutagious
diseases. Each
. minty is to be controlled by a county
board of health, a secretary of vital
statistics is to be elected, uniform
blanks for recording reports of physi­
cians and a penalty for uou-observ-
auce of the statute is established«.
Laue county has not yet complied
with the
provisions of the law.
Some other counties have and a com
plete record is kept of all statistics.
In each county the Couuty Judge
aud Couuty Physician compose the
Couuty Board of Health. They have
the power to coutrol all quarantine
orders, which have hitherto been at
tended to by the couuty court aloue.
Ail diseases, uuisauces and danger­
ous conditions are to be removed Kor
abate«! by order of the board of
health. The.'’ shall issue blanks to
proper persons to be tiled iu case of
births and deaths. No burial is to
take place without a burial certificate
i sued by the board of health. Other
rules are to lie followed.
ABOUT VACCINATION.
The rule adopted by the state board
of beatlh aud which holds good in
every county, regardiug the vacciua
lion of school childreu, reads as fol­
lows :
“it shall be tho duty of all school
boards iu all the districts.of whatever
class iu the Htato of Oregou, to pro

public schools of the State, of all
< hildreu not previously vaccinated,
the evidence of which is shown by
the scar), without proper vaccination
aud it shall be the duty of the
teacher or teachers iu any of the
public schools of the State of Oregou,
to satisfy themselves that such order
has been properly enforced, the evi­
dence being a scar, or by a certifi­
cate of vaccinatiou signed by a repu­
table pbysiciau. ”
The new law makes systems! ic every
part of the practice of physicians and
will make vital statistics available
at uuy aud all times.

from Halsey today, we learn that the
business men of that place are not

building ou the old McCully corner,
50x85 feet in size. Tbe two rooms be­
low will lie occupied by McCully
with bis stock of general merchandise,
and J. A. Crosa, with a hardware
stock. Upstairs there will be a hall
and officea.
Caleb Gray is putting up a one-
story bulldiug ou the Gray corner.
