He already has the timbers out for the erection of a sawmill which will be located ou the Willamette river, just below tbe big wagon bridge. He has purchased abodt l'^ acres of ground there, including the old boat warehouse site, which gives him am ple room for lumber yard». THE MILL. Mr. Barker today informed a Guard reporter that the new mill will have a capacity of betweeD 10,<AM> and 15- 000 feet’ of lumlx-r per day. The building will be 3 x120 feet in dimen sions, exclusive of minor additions and abutting sheds. It will be what is known as a baud mill aud the ma chiuery will be first class iu every re- sped. Mr. Barker has over half the ma chiuery ordered, sume of it now be ing manufactured at the Gruss Bros, I irou works in Eugene and the re mainder coming from Saginaw, Mich., aud Seattle, Wash. If the machinery arrives in time Mr. Barker expects to have the new mill iu operation shortly after the ! tit -t itf Inly. PLENTY OF TIMBER. The new mill will have plenty of timber to draw from. The Guard is informed Mr. Barker has 15,000,000 feet of bis own on Fall Creek and a great deal more is obtainable. This is the second sawmill for Eu gene, the Eugene Lumber Co. operat ing oue on the river north of Skin ner’» Butte.
