Naw Y ork , March 25.—The Easley Civic Federation is
taking preliminary steps toward the formation of a “con­
ciliation” committee, the members of which shall be taken
from the coalminer’s representatives and mineowners,
with an equal proportion of disinterested citizens of high
standing and character, to which the grievances of coal-
miners shall be referred.
Senator Mark Hanna will be asked to preside.
Wall street authorities are of the opinion that con-
cessions will be made forestalling any strike.

Mrs. Bertha M. Rohrer Wants to
Be Free From Her Husband.
Bertha M Rohrer, through her at­

baa commenced suit in the circuit

minor child. The couple were married
in Lane county April 10, 1895, and
have oue child, Esther, aged 6 years.
The plaintiff alleges that the defend an t

treatment. The complaint states that

has treated her with great cruelty,
