Miss Cecile Wilcox, who has been
attending the University of Oregon
during the school year which has
just drawn to a close, returned to
her home in this city Monday.
Mrs. D. Taylor accompanied by her
sister, Mrs. A. L. Moore of Corvallis,
were Salem' visitors Monday, Mrs.
Moore having gone there to receive
medical attention at a hospital of
that city.

attend the Chautauqua Assembly at
Gladstone Park this summer July

cently completed a plant at Edmonds,
Wash., similar to the one being in

A. W. Stansberry spent the fourth
at Cornelius. That city did big
things, having had a four day's go at
it. Three days were given to a
carnival and one to the celebration.
Mr. Stansberry was pressed into ser
vice in the martial band on the four
day's festival.
Mrs. E. M. Stroud has gone to San
Francisco to study styles and select
fall millinery goods. She will return
about the middle of August with a
full and complete line of everything j
up-to-date. The store will be open
and in charge of competent help

Mrs. G. A. Wilcox, who has been on
an extended visit with relatives and
friends in Morris, Minnesota, return
ed to Independence Friday. Mrsfl
Wilcox expressed herself as greatly
pleased to get back to Oregon where
the climate is so much more ideal

George Koach, accompanied by

of H. G. Seeley. They are' residents
