The most important issue
before the people of Oregon at
the coming election is the refer
endum vote to be taken affecting
the appropriation of $125,000 for
TTnivarsitv of Oreeon. Don't
j t
be narrow. Take a broad view
of the matter. This is not for
Eugene. It is for a greater
Oregon. Do you know why so
many of the Oregon young men
are sent outof the state to secure
schooling? Look up the dif
ference in appropriations in
other stntes. Let Polk give
unanimous consent to the appropriation.
One of the good things to
vote in favor of is the armory bill
which comes up for consider
ation at this election. Don't
vote it down. Remember that
we have a militia company at
Dallas and they will be benefitted
by that bill.
COOPERATION.
"Cooperation" is a beautiful word,
than which our lexicons contain none
more beautiful. With head high and
colors a-streaming, it strides right
along in the front rank with "love,"
"peace;" "justice," "honor," and all
that gallant train. We are mighty
pleased to mouth it and to discourse
lengthily on its wonderful, potential
benefits.
Until
Some one proceeds to put it into
effect; until capitalists cooperate to
raiee prices and increase dividends, or
laboring men cooperate to raise wages
and shorten their hours of toil. Then
we rear up on our hind-legs and, in the

Mr. Fred C. Hanrahman, a promi

"For the past six years I have sold and
recommended Chamberlain's Colic,
Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy. It is
a great remedy aud one of the best
patent medicines on the market. I
