Th Pallas Observer takes a
Salem paper to task for claiming
Salem as the goat ceuter of Ore
gon. The Salem paper evi
dently meant the Capital City is
a central place for two-legged
buttinskies hut nol for Angora
goats. There is not an attache
of a paper in Oregon from
"devil" to editor but knows Tolk
county leads in fine goats and
the sale of mohair. Or if such
inexcusable ignorance does exist,
the paper for its own protection,
better fire somebody.

In the hurried make-up of
last issue of this paper the name
of one member elect of the new
city council was inadvertently
omitted The name referred to
is that of C D. Calbreath. Mr.
Calbreath is of the firm of Bice
& Calbreath who conduct one ef
the largest furniture houses on
the west side. He has faith in
the town of Independence and
will be a progressive council
man.
The members of the Christian
church at Silverton are having
trouble with . their pastor and
fifteen have asked to have their
names stricken from the record.
The Baptist churches of Mon
mouth and Independence have
been in a turmoil over the con
duct of their pastor the past
year. Verily, ministers do not
always come to bring peace.
Predictions . are made that
Portland's exposition will be a
great success. Uncle Sam is
making such strides in every di
rection that an annual world's
fair would not overtax his ca
pacity or resources. St Louis

GripSQuickly Knocked Out.
"Some weeks ago during tke severe

Mr. J. H- Egleston of Maple. Landing,

chills and fever. We began osing Cham

It is a good plan to take a dose of tbe

Must Be Quick
Pains in the stomach and attacks of

so extremely palnlul that immediate
relief must be obtained. There is no
