Fennell are moving into the iresoyienao parsonage, where they will reside until the completion of their new residence. C. A. McLaughlin has purchased the corner lot ot W. A. Meeener, joining the Meefoer residence Mr. McLaughlin will erect a fine new residence. Rv. W. W. Edmondson has moved to Zena where he will make his residence while having charge of the Presbyterian church at that place. In addition to the Zena church Mr. Edmondson will also have charge of the church at Mo Coy and Whiteson. October 27, 28, and 2t. Indepen dence was canyassed the latter part of last week and they are doing Monmouth this week. Dallas is next on the list. - The canvassers give a can of baking powder to each family. Miss Alta Savage of Salem has been engaged to- teach the 7th grade in the Independence public school this winter. Miss Savage ia a niece of Mrs Dr. E. L. Ketchum of this city. The 7th grade of thirty pupils will occupy the extra room on the secondifloor made by run ning a partition across the hall. It will be set up on the rivernear the terminus of the new Southern Pacific spur on the Cooper track. The Charter Oafc is a hard wood mill and it is the intention of Mr. Oberer to cut maple and ash timber lor the present. The mll is situat ed so as to get logs from the river. W. ri. Harvey, a section hand, sustained a broken arm and dis located shoulder in the process ef arrest in Independence Sunday. The arresting officer was Deputy Marshal Wm.
