Special from Parker. On Sunday morning bright and early we started on our trip to Mt. Hood View. The day dawned cold and cloudy; but the' murky skies and threatening showers failed to dampen our enthusiasm, or to cause us to postpone our intended visit. And when Mr. Fuqua drove down in the big wagon with a good ly surply of spring seats, and wraps and umbrellas too numerous to mention, there was not one of our crowd who was not willing and anxious to start. And when once fairly started there was no turning back. We msde rapid progress over the rain soaked roads and about 10 o'clock A. M. we re alized that we were rapidly near ing our destination, which was des tined to be the Mt. Hood farm, which is owned and occupied by our friends, Mr. and Mrs. D. M. Calbreath. Just before reaching Mr. Calb'eath's we stopped to ad mire the adjoining farm which bo longs to Mr. Riddle. This farm H. H. Jaspersd Undertaker, and Funeral Independence, com pnes fi. R. We arrlys at about 10:45 A. M. and after a hearty welcome from the kind hostess we are ushered in to a nice, coy room with a cheer ful fire burning In an open grate. All who may have enjoyed the kind hospitality of these friend of ours know that they are not lack ing in- any of the qualities that compose the aggregate of royal en tortalners. At high noon a most appetizing banquet was aptrad in the spacious dining room, and we feasted royally. The afternoon was spent in viewingthe most import ant features of the farm interspers ed with an occasional game of chess or a visit to the g'ape arbor near by. From an elevation west of the house we viewed the towns of Mon mouth and Independence, and tfi tall spires of the state building at Salem were also discernible, while fhe suow clad peaks of old Mt. Jefferson rose grandly and ma jestically in the distance. At 3 P. M. we departed for our homes, bearing with us the remembrance of a most pleasant visit. And al together we do not remember spending a more pleasant day than the one we so much enjoyed at Mt Hood View. Besides our kind host and hostess our merry party was composed of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Fuqua apl daughter. Velena, Mrs. Mary Kerr and Maggie and al ter Kerr, Miss Lura Critehlow, and Mr. and Mrs. R. W. 8 wink and daviRhter, Mabel. Haves two From Ilvnth. Polk County Bank, INCORPORATED.
