Do not forget the date. T. D. Campbell thinks he has a prize hen. The bird in question is a Brown Leijhorn and during last year layed 2iKi eggs. Mr. Campbell kept strict account and says at the ruling price of eggs last season she brought in $8.30. That hen is a pretty good investment. Mr. Van Loan, of Hood River, Eastern Oregon, has located in In dependence. He is a cousin of Mrs. II. II. Jasperson. Mr. Van Loan has for years been connected with a large wholesale establish ment in Minneapolis but desires a change on account of health. He will farm. 'The annual conference of the United Evangelical church con vened in Portland April 9th. Rev. B. J. Kellv, pastor of the church at this place, took the train Tuesday afternoon to attend the conference. There will be no service at the United Evangelical church next Sunday. The Eebekah bulge will present the comedy drama, "Hickory Fai m" at the opera house Friday, April 17th. The above-named play is somewhat on the order of Denman Thompson's ''Country Homestead" and affords excellent oj portunity for the combining of humor and pathos. J. II. Goodman, father of A. J., visited in town thh week, return ing to his home at Eugene the first of the week. On reaching Corvallis he was stricken with a strange malady and when dis covered was wandering unknow ingly over the streets of Corvallis. From this condition he grew more serious. Mr. Goodman went from here and while his father is im proving he is in a precarious con dition, lie is advanced in years. Thomas Zeiber was a passenger to Eugene Saturday.
