here, is now living at Fanningtor,
Washington and is doing well.
V. V. Miller, a hopgrower of
Pedee, was in town last week.
Elmer Burrows, of McTimmonds
Val!e, was doing business in town
last week.
Fred Oberer, of. the Charter Oak
Mill Co., has gone to San Francisco
on business.
Orvil Buchanan is preparing to
engage in the breeding of high
grade swine.
George Crowley, employed in a

quite severely last week.
Mrs: C. L Bump, of Kings Val;
ley, is visiting her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. J W. Wilson, of this place.
Alva Womer, of Pede, was in

The building " season is on in
Dallas, sure. The carpenters are
all em ployed to the last man and
the town is noisy with the rattle of
hammers and saws. Many new
dwellings are now', even in March,
being constructed and reconstructed
The Gail Hotel is having a new
wing built three stories high.
The Dallas City Hank building
is now being lemodeled. The old
vault was removed and rebuilt, ten
feet further back, thereby giving
more room in the counting room
and lobby. The laying of tho tile
floor was commenced today and
soon the marble bases will b? set,
surmounted by old oak wainscot-

Herman Tartar, who is now a
student at the University of Cali-

ville, have closed a contract with
Mr. Uglow for a fine store room in
his new brick block On Mill street.

price was, as he said "ridiculously
low." .
"The conference would not con
sent to the sale of a property worth
$3,000 for $1,200. This question
has created considerable feeling
among the members ot the South
Methodist chnrch and is greatlv
opposed by a portion of the mem
bers. While other members argue
that the time is past for two
Methodists ought to belong to one
law will permit, which requires
ten days' notice for all elections.
And if the people upprove ot the
action of the council, then condem
natory proceedings will be com
menced in the circuit court for the
May term, department No. 1, Judge
Geo. II. Burnett.
Judge It. P. Boise will be the
principal defendant on the right of
way, together with Mrs. E. Y.
Halleck, who owns the water rights
both of whom absolutely refuse to
give or sell to the city any rights
of way or water rights, causing
great delay and expense to the city
