Rev. O. II. Osborne brought to
this odlce Monday a few samples
of winter apples that surpass any
thing we have 'seen thisjear. He
had fifty boxes he was taking to
Portland where he found a ready
market at 11.00 pcr box. It pays
to raise the best for the market.
Saturday was one of the busiest
! days of the year, it having the ap
pearance of some public ceieora
tion. People were in town doing
gome of their Christinas shopping.
The displays of Christmas wares
are superior to anything we have
ever seen in Independence.
Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus will
appear in a novel Christmas festi
val at the Christian church Decem
ber 24, at 7:30 P. M. A cordial
invitation is extended to all.
