J. M. Conkliu, of Goldemkle,
Wash., was visiting relatives in
town Sunday and tho first of the

Uev. N. Shtipp, of Portland, pre
siding elder of the Evangelical As
sociation, will hold meetings in
their church building here Friday
night, Saturday night and Sunday
morning and evening. The church
has been in debt for a good many
years but it is now paid off and
the last note will be burned on
Sunday evening with appropriate
remarks for such an occasion.

returned home Wednesday.

C. A. convention at Lalem, Satur
day, returning Sunday.
Mrs. 11. A. Adkins returned from
viMting her sons in Lane county
Wednesday.
Henry Stanton, of Salem, was
visiting friends here last week.
Mrs. Claud Skinner is visiting

Monday to her home in Salem.
The . first Normal football team
will play the Willamette University
of Salem Thanksgiving day.
The O. S. N. S. football team
leave Friday for McMinnville to

urday afternoon; also the ladies
basket ball team play McMinnville
Saturday evening.
Mrs. Ella Sherman expects to
leave soon for San Francisco.
A reception was tendered the
parents by the teachers of the
training department last Friday
evening. An interesting program
treating of subjects of a special
interest to parents and teachers
was given in the Normal chapel.
A dainty lunch was served in the
training school library.
Mrs. Tillio Hamniar is quite ill
at the home of Lum Yater.
Mr. Woodford Vance visited 1 rel
atives a few days, returning to
Portland.
Recently the cigar store owned
by B. H, Grant, of The Dalles,"was
robbed of $100. He is a former
deputy sheriff of Polk county.
