Prof. Torbet. of Albany college,

delivered a most interesting ad
dress on Brother Jonathan Needs
You." It was a good thing for
the young men to take home and
ponder over.
Individual comment is as nn
necessary as it would be super
flous. The numbers were well
rendered. Such affairs commend
themselves to thinking people who
desire to see self improvement in
what ever manner it may mani
fest itself. May Independence be
favored with many other similar
entertainments.

First Unitarian church, Salem.
The cluss day exercises will be
at 2 o'clock. Monday, the ltUh
and the graduating exercises at
10 o'clock Wednesday, the ISth.
Monday evening will be students
reunion. Tuesday evening the
entertainment by the literarv
societies, and Wednesday evening
the alumni reunion. t
The presentation of the portrait
of Pres. T. F. Campbell will be by
Judge (ieo. II. Burnett and the re
sponse by Justice Chas. K. Wolver
ton, both old graduates of the
college. The presentation ceremony
will probablv be Wednesday even
ing, at the alumni reunion.
Amongst those who will furnish
the mimic for the exercises will be
Miss Hattie Parrish Hinges, of
Salem, who Is always a favorite.
