Washington politic since 1869. He
was a man of broad views and enjoyed
the esteem of his fellow citizens.

visiting Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Cooper.
Mrs. Smith has many friends In this
city. Her husband was a pioneer mer

Mrs. Nina Bowers, of Baker City, is
visiting Mrs. Ellen Robertson and

lug her girlhood and her many ac
quaintances will be pleased to meet

Mr. W. J. Kent, state agent for the
Co-Operative Savings and Loan As
sociation, of SioOx Kalis, Boutn Da

organizing an association here. He Is
meeting with considerable encouragement.
John Minto, the well-known Oregon
pioneer, has resigned his place as a
member of the horticultural ooaru.
He made a very active and efficient

difficult to flud a man who can fill the
place so acceptably.
Mr. and Mrs. John Kurre left for
Phoenix, Arizona, last Tuesday. Mr.
Kune has been afflicted with lung
trouble for several years and he goes to
Arizona for the purpose of seeking a
dryer climate in hope that hi health
will be benefited thereby. He expect
to be absent until next spring at leasi.
We hope Mr. Ktirre will find the balm

the South. He is a worthy citizen and
