years in the business of catching and
salting salmon.
The strr-uge island of Prince of
Wales, on which Mr.- Hillar has elect
ed, to mako his home, lies at the
mouth cf Dixou's entrance and only
about three miles from tho northern
line of British Columbia. The island
is about 200 miles long and from 10
to SO or 40 miles wide. It is singular
in its makeup, having a fringe ol
lowland all around. Toward the
civo viriirpB of mountains, 6ome
of thorn reaching lof ly heights and
covered with perpetual snow. There
is magnificent timoer m jji em ii un
titles. It consists of epruoe, fir, hem
lock, splendid yellow coJar and a
very superior red cedar.
