cherries and a delightful evening with
Mr. and Mrs. Butler at their home on
Tuesday evening.
The Apollo club, a musical organi
zation of men from Salem under the
direction of director John Sykes, has
been, secured to give a concert in the
chapel on the evening of July 13 at
8:15 o'clock. This club is well known
throughout the valley and has long
stood for excellence in things musical.
Their many friends will be glad or
the opportunity to hear them sing.
Many students are planning to
atetnd the chautauqua.
A motion picture made from the
well known story "Little Lord Faunt
leroy" will be shown in the chapel
Friday evening, June 30. The picture
is an exceptional one from the stand
point of the mere picture, as well as
the fact that it is made from a classic.
The members of the faculty have
announced that the recess for July
4th will begin Friday . evening, June
30, and continue until Tuesday even
ing, July 4. Classes will tie resumed
at 8:00 o'clock on Wednesday morn
ing and will be held on Saturday, July
8, to make up for Monday, July 3.
This arrangement has been made to
give students who wish to go to their
homes a chance to reach them ana
to return in time for classes on Wed
nesday.
The merchandise shoot of the High
land Gun club on Sunday was well
attended by lovers of the gun.
Oren McElmurry has been ill for
the past week with stomach trouble.
Several of the boys in the district
find attraction in Monmouth now that
summer school is in session.
