white course are from 18 to 26 year..

Tho blue course provides more ad-
vanceed training for warrant officers
and selected non-commissioned offi
cers of tho regular army, national
guard and organized reserve, and
for qualified civilians, with a view
to their appointment as officer, of
the organized reserves. This coume
includes specialized instruction in
branch of service, selected by the can
didate and for which he is consider
ed qualified by reason of previous ex
perience and education. All candi
dal, for this course must have com
pleted the training prescribed for the
Red Course and the White Course or
tho equivalent thereof. Age limit,
are nineteen to twenty-seven yearn.
Applicants who have had prior mil
itary training in any of the three
components of the army of the United
States, especially veterans of the
World', war, may be accepted for any
of the three course, if not over 35
years of age.

average intelligence and good moral
j character. No particular education
lal qualifications are required, except
I that applicants for the white course
j must have a grammar school educa
tion or its equivalent, and applicants

Almost any average young man
can meet the physical requirements
for the red course. He must have
not let s than two inches chest ex
pansion and weight not less than one
hundred pounds stripped. The heart,
eyes and ear. must be good, and the
teeth servicable. The minimum phy
sical requirements for the white
and blue courses applicants are prac
tically the same as for the red, but
slightly higher. A certificate as to
moral character, given by a school
master, clergyman, priest, rabbi, of
ficer or exofficer of the U. S. army,

Transportation to camp and return
for all other candidates will be pro
vided as follows:
(a) Applicants who are able to,
may pay their own way to the camp
,and be reimbursed after their arrival
there at the rate of five cents per
mile, computed over the shortest
usually travelled route from his
home to the camp; or,
(b) If this is not convenient, the
government will furnish railroad
tickets and, in addition, the candi
dates will be reimbursed for the actu-

The applicati n blank will contain
space for a physical examination.
This examination must be undergone
and the blank filled out before for
warding t' e application. The physi
cal examination will be made without
charge by any of the following: army
surged, i, medical officers of navy or
marine corps, recruiting stations,
medical officers of naval training
station t or naval operating bases,
medical officers in charge of marine
hospit-ls, U. S. P. H. S. stations or
U. S. eterans' hospitals. The exam
ination may be made by a civilian
physic an, the applicant must bear
the expense thereof. Regular army,
navy, marine corps and U. S. P. II.
S. physicians will require no more
formality than the presentation of
the application blank.
No applicant will be admitted to
any camp unless he has taken the re
quired vaccination against small-pox
and the regular anti -typhoid-para-,
typhoid prophylaxis prior to his ar-
l rival thereat. Graduates of the 1921
Icitizens' military training camps are
ot required to take the prophylaxis
ngain. Applicants who did not at
tend the training camps last year but
iwho hold certificates showing that
they have taken the anti-typhoid
paratyphoid prophylaxis and have
been recently vaccinated against
small-pox should forward such cer
tificates with their applications.
No applicant should be vaccinated
or inoculated with a view to attend
ing the 1922 camp until he has been
notified by the chief of staff of the
division in whose area he resides that
he has been tentatively accepted for
admission to a camp. With such noti
fication of acceptance, will be sent
specific instructions as to how. the
vaccination and inoculation may be
accomplished. In most cases this
can be accomplished without expense
to the applicant.
All bedding, uniform clothing and
equipment of all kinds will be pro
vided by the war department. It is
suggested that candidates bring such
musical instruments, athletic uni
forms and equipment, bathing suits,
and necessarily consumed in travel,
but not to exceed $3 per day. In this
event, receipts for all expenditures
for meals must be presented to the
camp authorities by the applicants.
It is strongly recommended that
the applicants pay their own way to
camp if possible to do so. They will
find this the more convenient method.
Shortly after arrival at camp, they
will be reimbursed for the journey
thereto at the rate noted in above.
This amount will then be available
for their personal use while in at-

mate. The officers and noncomissioned
officers on duty at the camps as in
structors or staff-officers will gladly
assist in every way possible. Every
effort will be made by the camp per
sonnel to make the stay of the stu
dents both pleasant and profitable
and to send them home better quali
fied morally, mentally and physically
to meet the responsibilities of citizenship.
Clay S. Taylor has just received the
appointment of Postmaster at Pedee,
succeeding1 V. J. Love, resigned. In
a deal, consummated some time ago,
Mr. Love traded his mercantile busi
ness at Pedee for a farm, to Mr. Tay
lor, and the transfer of the post
mastership is the sequence.
