last Friday afternoon. A feature

the close of the entertainment.
On Friday Mr. Gentle made a trip
to Salem in his capacity of Chairman
of the Faculty's Committee to confer
with Superintendent Churchill.chair
man of the Regent' Committee on
Courses. The conference had to do
with the certification of graduates
of the new special courses recently
authorized at the Normal.
As a result of the above conference
the Superintendent of Public Instruc
tion announces tha he will grant spe
cial certificates to those completing
the special two year course in Draw
ing, Music, and Physical Training.
These certificates entitle the holder
to teach these subjects either in elem
entary or in all high schools and to
supervise said subjects in such
schools. He also will issue to grad
uates of the special two year course
in Household Economy a certificate
to teach that subject in elementary
schools and in one, two and three
year high schools.
All the above certificates arc is
sued on graduation for a period of
one year. After six months of suc
cessful teaching and upon recom
mendation of the county superinten
dent a five year certificate is issued.
After thirty months of successful
tenching and upon recommendation fo
the county superintendent a life certi
ficate will be issued.
