WORK FOR FIVE HUNDRED A few years ago Sa'.ein was a city unrecognised as a manufacturing cen ter. Today it has fifty-five factories employing 1510 wjrkmen. The manth y pay ro 1 is said to be $90,390 and the va'ue cf tho annual product is more than $1,000,000. This accounts for Us vast Increase In popula'ion during the past t?n years. ' If the Commercial Club and the business interests cf Independence will, encourage different lines of in dustry and advertise the resource, of this country, as other towns are belng) advertised, the population of the city and tributary country wl'l be more than doubled In the next ten yeaw. Wi'h our superior coun try and the excellent shipping facil ities back of it, progress is inevitable. Let Independence adopt a popula tion mark of 5000 by the time for the next census , to be taken and it will be reached if the people will do their jpart to assist In the future development.
