Chief of Police Hamilton and City Attorney Grant Corby engaged in a long conference on the subject, but the result of their Interview was not given out. The Chief of Po'.lce Is an elective officer, while the tl'y Attorney receives his appointment from the Council. When the administration first went Into office the Chief and the City Council locked horns over the re jection of Larry Murphy, who bad been on the poll'e force for several years. Chief Hamilton wanted to re ject Murphy, but the Counll voted to retain him over the head of the Chief. Murphy resigned and qulted the trouble, but considerable 111 foe'ing deve oped at the time 'which estab lished something of a factional dif ference. Whether this will have any Influence "on Chief Hamilton's action at this time Is not known.
