ATTRACTED BY OTHER GEESE If wild geese flying In a northerly direction Is an indication of spring time, spring has come. A large flock passed over the city Sunday flying to ward the state capitol. Possibly they may have been attracted by . other geese, and it will 7et be well to heed the prognostication of the , simple 'ground hog. , At any rate spring will soon arrive and there will necessarily have to be a general cleaning up to improve the sanitary condition of the city. Too often this is neglected with the result that sickness comes and probably death. Under such circumstances people are likely to question the good ness of the Almighty and talk about the mysteries of divine provldnce. Thera is no mystery about it. Rot ten apples, cabbages, and other such things reveal the cause aa plainly as daylight, and it's up to propertv own ers of Independence to do their part toward effecting a general cleaning tip of the city. OF COURSE IT IS . Frequently the inquiry Is made, "is the world getting better?" Most certainly it is.- Every day makes im provements, and this Is done in spite of the political corruption, business dishonesty and other evils which have long prevailed. One ha but to con trast present conditions of the Legis lature with those that existed years ago to be convinced of this truth. If the representatives could only be taught the valuable lesson of economy the Oregon Legislature would be quite respectable. There is yet much to be accom plished before the world reaches that Ideal standard of morality, but that It is getting better is most certain. NOTICE Valley Lodge No. 42, I. O. O.
