It Is said that at this sale was represented the best Jersey blood of the world today, many of the animals being Island bred. The bull calf brought to tils farm near Monmouth, Is out of n Island bred bull which was imported at a cost of 11000. Mothers' Memorial Day r Sunday, May 8, will be observed In the state of Washington and In other places as "Mothers' Day" and "Moth ers' Memorial" services will be held many of the churches. In making the proclamation, Governor Hay of Washington requested that every one wear a white flower on that day, as memorial to their mothers. A "Memorial" service will be held Calvary Presbyterian church on Sunday evening, when Dr. Dunsmore ill deliver a memorial address. It desired that there be a large at tendance, and that every one wear white flower. Death of Mrs. Watson Mrs. Rachel Watson, an old and highly respected resident of Indepen dence, died at her home In this city April 28, 1910, at the age of sev enty years, eleven months and seven days. Miss Rachel Wheeler was born May 1839., at Smlthfield, Illinois. She was married to John D. Watson In 7. In 1881 she and her husband re moved to Oregon where she has since resided, having lived In Independence the past fifteen years or longer. Watson died at this place five years ago. Mrs. Watson was the mother of children, only one of whom is now living, Mrs. C. N. Tharp of this place. Funeral services were held at Cal vary Presbyterian church at 2 p. m. last Sunday, Dr. Dunsmore officiating. All of Mrs. Watson's grandchildren were preseent at the funeral. Inter ment was made In I. O. O.
