H. S. Chase returned from Salem
Monday.
Mrs. C. V. Teats of Dallas is with
her mother, Mrs. Eva Butler, who is
caring for her daughter, Mrs. R. W.
Coulter who has been quite ill but Is
now convalescent.
Mrs. John Orr and daughter Char
lotte, visited Mrs.' Irene Dalton last
Wednesday.

land Wednesday on account of the ill
ness of her daughter, Mrs. C. C
Lowe.
Friday evening a program and bas
ket social was very well patronized
by the Y. P. S. C E. of this commun
ity.
The social dance at the gymnasium
hall was only meagerly attended Fri
day night.
Wm. Riddell, Jr., returned Tuesday
from Seattle where he went to re
ceive some fine blooded sheep which
were imported to him.
Mr. Stewart has begun work on his
new house north of town on the land
recently purchased of Dr. Crowley.
Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Johnson re
turned Tuesday from a two days'
visit with Falls City friends.
A very enjoyable time was had at
the Woodman hall Thursday evening
when I. O. O. F. members and Re
bekah Lodge No. 177 members to the
number of 100 or more met for the
purpose of a farewell to Mr. and Mrs.
J. Pettit who went to Corvallis to
live Friday. Ice cream and cake were
served and a royal good time was
had until a late hour.
BUENA VISTA
A. Hall of Buena Vista was trans
acting business in Independence Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Bevens of Hop
dale were Buena Vista visitors last
Friday.
Martin Conger of Hopdale was in
Buena Vista Friday.
Mrs. Byron Nixon and family were
Portland passengers Monday.
