The "Winter Picnic" and dance which was arranged for at this meet ing and which was given in the opera house Monday evening under the patronage of the Ladies Library Asso ciation was undoubtedly one of the biggest successes of the season. The association comprises almost all the women of the city and the entertain ment was attended by the larger part of the membership. The dance was opened by' a grand march which made a beautiful specU. cle. It was not intended as a dress occasion but many beautiful gowns were in evidence. The men attend ed in business attire. Music was ex cellent and the floor was good, and "winter picnic" would not be complete without mention of the beautiful lunch baskets that were do nated. Some were intricately made and artistically decorated, reflecting great credit upon those who contrib uted them. Many more lunches could have been sold. Our genial baker Fritz Weber, sent to the hall a gen erous tray of warm doughnuts that were heartily enjoyed and appreciated.
