The Ladles' AW Society of the
Methodist Episcopal church of Inde

themum Fair in the opera house dur
ing the afternoon and evening of
gaturda, November 28.,
The fair this ear eclipsed any of
former years. A fine program was
rendered, consisting of a number of
selections by the Independence or.
chestra, a duet by the Misses Doro
thy Paddock and Ula Dickenson, a
drill by eighteen girls called "Pop
porn People," a male quartet render
ed by Dr. Hewitt and Messrs. DreX
Jer, Gllllsple and Ferguson. A trio
by Misses McDevltt of Dallas, Hodge
ot Independence and Craven of Mon
niouth was enthusiastically encored.
The,"Komlc Opra" was well render,
ed by MeBdames Paddock and Drex
ler and, Messrs. Brexler and Gllllsple.
Tfco iirogram concluded with a parlor
play, "Mistakes Will Happen," put
on by Dr. Allin, Mr. Gllllsple and
Misses N. Damon and F. Burton.
The selections rendered by the or
chestra were exceptionally fine, the
singing was pronounced as being of a
high order, the duet and drill by the
Jittle folks were most excellent, whiie
the "Komic Opra" and the parlor
play were enjoyed immensely and
brought forth rounds of applause. ,
There was a fine display of chrys
anthemums. Prizes were awarded to
Mesdames W. B. and S. B. Walker,
C. H. Mattison, R. H. Knox and A.
Nelson.
The stage and the booths were
decorated with bunting and Oregon
grape. The first booth, where the
fancy needlework of the society was
for, sale, was presided over by Mes
dames Knox and Ferguson; the Jap
anese booth by Mrs. Heath and Miss
Church, and the Ice cream, booth
was attended . by Mesdames Smith
