long time to churn. Cream ordinar
ily should churn in from 30 to 40
minutes and no difficulty will be en
countered in doing this if the cream
has a temperature of about 60 de
grees. For best results it should be
held at this temperature for about
two hours prior to churning time.
Gooseberry growers who intend to
dispose of their fruit to canneries
must spray with lime-stilfur to pre
vent mildew, but spraying while the
fruit is developing will cause "Sul
fur coating" which spoils the fruit
in the cans. One spray applied as
the leaf clusters are beginning to' ex
pand and a second as the first flow
ers bloom will usually stop mildew
infestation. Thorough work will
protect the berries from attack.
Skim thick cream to test at least
30 per cent. The thicker the cream
the more skim milk you will have
left to feed the stock. Skim milk
for feeding hogs or chickens is worth
one-half as much per 100 pounds as
corn is worth a bushel, so 200 pounds
of skim milk has as much feed value
as one bushel of corn.
Lice and ring worms are likely to
cause trouble in stock this time of
year, especially in the youpg. Lice
mav be handled Quite successfully
by applying raw linseed oil, rubbing
it well into the skin. Ring worms
may be treated satisfactorily by ap
plying salicylic ointmnt or plain lard
and sulphur on the parts affected.

It can be made of light material and
with good care will last several years.
The radishes can either be sown in
rows or sown broadcast under the
screen. 4
When the radishes are half grown
the screen can be removed and en
other planting made. In this way
fresh ' radishes can be had at all
times during the season. Little
damage will result from removing
the screen from the mature plants as
the fly will seldom deposit eggs on
any but young plants.
